Sew along with us by making one block each week throughout the year—whether you start in January or jump in right now. Or choose a previous year, such as your birth year, and make the quilt at your own pace.
The charm of a temperature quilt lies in its unpredictability—you never know exactly how it will turn out, as the daily high temperature determines the color gradient.
The pattern includes clear instructions on how to choose your fabrics and define your temperature scale. It offers two quilt layout options: a portrait and a landscape version. However, you’re free to customize it—for example, by making a very narrow, elongated version. The blocks measure 6 x 8 inches, and the entire quilt will be 55 x 73 inches (approximately 140 x 185 cm).
The pattern also includes the small heart block and number blocks, so you can personalize your quilt with the year and a special occasion, such as an anniversary.
All the blocks are based on the Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) method – use any foundation to your liking. Step-by-step instructions with an accompanying video for beginners is available – anyone can learn this technique!
Since year-long projects can be challenging to keep up with, consider joining the dedicated Temperature Quilts Facebook group for inspiration, support, and motivation.
The pattern is avalable in Dutch and in English.
